
The role
The Principal Tourism Officer will be responsible for overseeing the initial preparation and implementation of tourism policy within the county. This position will involve providing technical advisory services to encourage investment in the tourism sector and promoting both domestic and international tourism. The officer will coordinate hospitality matters for international meetings, conferences, and exhibitions held in the county. Other duties will include following up on the implementation of bilateral and multilateral tourism agreements and protocols, conducting research, preparing project proposals in collaboration with other departments and stakeholders, evaluating Environmental Impact Assessment and Audit reports, and classifying tourism establishments such as hotels, tented camps, and restaurants. Additionally, the Principal Tourism Officer will supervise and develop staff within the department.
