Provide professional counselling services to enhance the psychological, emotional, and social well-being of students and staff, addressing challenges such as stress, substance abuse, disciplinary issues, and academic concerns. They will also implement counselling policies, organize sensitization programs, and collaborate with relevant departments to promote career guidance and overall welfare. Additionally, the officer will offer crisis intervention, referrals, and support during institutional changes while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Education, Skills and Experience
Must possess Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling/Medical/Applied Psychology from a recognized institution.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a counselor in an Institution of higher learning at Grade 9 within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized academic institution.
Must possess at least a VCT Certificate.
A Nurse or Clinical Officer with Counselling knowledge will be an added advantage.
OR
Must possess Higher National Diploma in Counselling/Medical/Applied Psychology from a recognized institution.
Five (5) years’ experience as a counselor in an Institution of higher learning.
Must possess at least a VCT Certificate.
