Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of capacity-building initiatives related to sustainable urban development. Supports research, training programs, and stakeholder engagement to promote best practices in urban planning and sustainability.
Enrolled in a graduate school program (Master’s degree or equivalent or higher) OR enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) OR graduated with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D.
Must provide an official certificate upon request.
Computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
Strong ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, with a willingness to understand and respect differing perspectives.
Experience in research, socio-economic analysis, urban planning, project management, policy framework evaluation, e-learning, communication, and webinar organization.
Proficiency in visual communication tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Canva, InDesign, or other design software.
Experience conducting research on informal settlements, socio-economic disparities, urbanization trends, governance structures, and sustainable housing policies.
Ability to analyze policies and frameworks related to urban development and inclusive urban strategies.
Knowledge of the Southern Africa (SADC) urban development context.
Experience in survey and appraisal of official records, with formal training in Archives and Records Management.
Experience working with Electronic Documents and Records Management applications for managing paper and born-digital records.
Strong report writing skills, including policy briefs, position papers, social media content, thematic articles, and research reports.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with a detail-oriented and proactive approach to learning and contributing to research projects.
Preferred areas of study include Urban Planning, Architecture, Education, Social Sciences, Geography, Public Administration, Business Administration, International Development, Communication, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, Information Sciences, Knowledge Management and IT, Library and Information Sciences, or other relevant fields.
