Responsible for supporting geospatial data collection, processing, and analysis to generate insights for various projects. Assists in mapping, visualization, and spatial modeling using GIS tools and software.
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), or have graduated with a Bachelor's degree, Master's, PhD, or equivalent.
Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
Have a demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including a willingness to try to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Preferred areas of study: Geography, geospatial science, remote sensing, urban planning, or any other closely related field.
No professional work experience is required, but the field of study must be closely related to the type of internship applied for.
Applicants must be a student in the final year of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), a Master’s, or Ph.D. program, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master’s, or Ph.D. program.
Proficiency in GIS and remote sensing tools (e.g., ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, Erdas Imagine, ENVI, Google Earth Engine) is required.
Proficiency in GIS-relevant programming skills, geostatistical workflows, and GIS online systems is desirable.
Proficiency in visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, ArcGIS Online, Tableau) is desirable.
