Responsible for supporting research, data analysis, and policy development related to national urban policies. This role involves assisting in drafting reports, coordinating stakeholder engagements, and contributing to the evaluation of sustainable urban development strategies.
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), have graduated with a Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, or equivalent.
Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
Demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
Show the ability to successfully interact with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including a willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Preferred areas of study: currently pursuing or recently attained an advanced university degree in Urban/Public Policy, Governance, Urban and Territorial Development, Urban Development, Metropolitan Management, Project Development or Management, Architecture, or related fields (Master’s or PhD candidate preferred).
No professional work experience is required, but the field of study must be closely related to the type of internship applied for.
Applicants must be in the final year of a first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent), a Master’s, or a PhD program, or have completed one of these degrees.
Proof of eligibility must be attached to the application, with an official certificate required at a later stage.
Applicants to the UN internship program within the Policy, Legislation, and Governance Section (PLGS) of the Urban Practices Branch (UPB) must have experience in research and copy editing, communications, tools development and management, project development and management.
Experience working on urban themes is required.
Experience in research on urban law and governance related to urban planning, land, climate change, and housing is required.
Experience in database management, data analytics, and data analysis with evidence/examples is desirable.
Experience in organizing events (e.g., expert group meetings, consultative meetings, conferences) or supporting outreach activities is desirable.
