About Higher Education Loans Board
The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) is a state corporation that provides financial assistance to Kenyan students pursuing higher education. It was established in 1995 by an Act of Parliament. It's a state corporation in the Ministry of Education.
HELB offers low-interest loans to students, including:
-Undergraduate loans
-Afya Elimu loans
-TVET loans
-Jielimishe loans for salaried students
HELB offers scholarships to students. It also offers bursaries.
HELB's mandate is to:
-Disburse loans, bursaries, and scholarships to students
-Recover loans after students complete their studies
-Establish, manage, and award loans, bursaries, and scholarships
