The role

Job Description

You will provide leadership and oversee administration and finance functions at the university. You will also ensure governance, ethics, compliance, and strategic management in line with the university’s framework.

What you need

Requirements

Be at least an associate Professor and a holder of an earned doctorate degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited university in Kenya.
Have a minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant administrative, academic and research experience, three (3) of which must be at management level.
Have demonstrable leadership in an academic and/or research institution, having served substantively with measurable results in senior administrative position such as Deputy Vice Chancellor, Principal of a University Constituent College, Deputy Principal, Dean/Director/Chairperson/Registrar of a Department, Principal of a College/Campus or leadership of comparable levels in other similar institutions.
Have demonstrated training and competence in finance and administration.
Have a proven track record of research and publications in peer-reviewed journals, monographs and books.
Understand the structural, legislative and regulatory framework for administering University Education in Kenya.
Have membership to a professional body where applicable.
Have a Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized and accredited institution.
Have demonstrated a clear understanding of national development policies, goals and objectives and ability to integrate them within the university’s strategic framework.
Be an accomplished scholar with a proven track record in formulating and managing academic programs, supervising and mentoring masters and PHD students.
Demonstrate experience in networking and resource mobilization in the development of a university.
Have a strong portfolio in raising funds through research grants and collaborations.
Comply with requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
Comply with Chapter 2 Two, Article 10 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on National Values and Principles of Governance.
Familiarity with Public Finance Management, Public Procurement and Human Resource Management.
Familiarity with Public Service Commission requirements for senior leadership and management positions in the Public Sector.
